Your car just came back from a professional detailing: the paint gleams, the interior smells fresh and every crevice is clean. How do you preserve that result as long as possible? With the right habits you can maintain the result for weeks or even months longer.
1. Clean bird droppings and tree sap immediately
These are acidic and begin damaging paint within hours — especially in summer when the bodywork is hot. Remove them immediately with a damp microfibre cloth. The rule: the longer it sits, the deeper it etches.
2. Wash using the two-bucket method
The biggest mistake after a detailing is returning to the automatic car wash. Use two buckets — one with soapy water, one with clean rinse water for your microfibre cloth. Never use a sponge or chamois leather.
3. Dry the car after washing
Water that evaporates on paint leaves mineral deposits. Dry with a clean, soft microfibre towel after every wash.
4. Protect the interior preventively
- Use rubber floor mats over the standard ones
- Condition leather upholstery every 3–4 months
- Limit food and drinks in the car
- Avoid smoking — it leaves a film on all surfaces that's nearly impossible to fully remove
5. Dust the car regularly
Airborne dust and pollen accumulate on paint even when the car sits stationary. A weekly wipe with a damp microfibre cloth or detailer spray keeps your car fresh between washes.
